(November 1, 2006) Special Report Who Else did the Balancing? An Investigation into Course Scheduling in the CoB
"This Special Report examines the 2006-07 teaching schedules in the EFIB. Investigators at usmpride.com thought it
would be interesting and instructive to follow the lead set by economics professor Franklin Mixon’s Grievance
Appeal (see usmpride.com) by analyzing the variation in the so-called 6 “onerous teaching factors” spelled out in
Mixon’s Appeal and original Grievance. The analysis found in Table 1 below follows that in Mixon’s Appeal
Exhibit 5...".
(November 7, 2006) Carter’s Thoughts Enlightening "More people than you probably realize find the Carter
thoughts invaluable. They give us a window into the mind of CoB administrators like we’ve never had before. I
keep thinking about the stories going around about how Doty and Niroomand talk about faculty and staff in the
Dean’s suite. They supposedly shout from office to office instead of retreating behind closed doors. Also, the
vulgarities that get spewed in that suite are enough to turn the stomachs of the staff that work there everyday and
have to put up with it...".
(November 8, 2006) usmpride.com News . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . DEVELOPING STORY November 8, 2006 HATTIESBURG
--- "Sources tell usmpride.com News that EFIB Chair George Carter is “grooming” visiting assistant professor of
international business John Lambert to become the permanent replacement for departed IB assistant professor
Linghui Tang. Given Lambert’s current “visiting” status, filling the IB line with a tenure-track faculty member will
require a national search. Thus, Carter’s indication that Lambert is being “groomed” at this early date threatens to
make any forthcoming search illegitimate...".
(November 9, 2006) 31st & Pearl The 4/4 Poster Boy "If there ever was a poster boy in the CoB for a 4/4 teaching load,
it’s former CBA Dean William Gunther. For starters, Gunther is the only economist in the EFIB who is not
academically qualified. EFIB Chair George Carter currently lists Gunther as “Professionally Qualified,” a concept
which is, for an academic economist, almost comical ... So, how does the Josephine-based EFIB instructor thank the
Mississippi taxpayers (and the CoB’s administration) for their generosity? He simply says (paraphrasing): “If there’s
a CoB UPC meeting on a Friday, you won’t find me there. I’m outta here at noon on Thursdays.” You see, Gunther is
a busy man - he’s got a CoB Bureau (the BBER) to ignore and a south Alabama beach calling his name".
