(August 14, 2008) Perks for Buds XII Time to make George happy . . . again As the EFIB faculty plod toward their first departmental faculty meeting this fall, it is time to placate old George Carter, again, about being the lone sailor on deck. Heaven forbid the faculty members would actually have a legitimate say in their own departmental governance. When they did once before (please see the numerous previous posts on this topic), George kept fussing until he had a re-vote rigged for his personal success.
(September 3, 2008) Perks for Buds XIV Ed? Ed? Dr. Nissan? Are you back yet? Your contract period started. Are you still in England? Is George Carter teaching your classes again? Does he never tire of it? I guess that is what co-authors do, huh? Did you take leave time for your missed days? You know if – if – you were teaching somewhere else while you were supposed to be teaching here, that is double-dipping that is not supposed to happen.
(September 11, 2008) Help a Guy Out 10 Retirements that Would Make the CoB Better and Nail’s Job Easier by Duane Cobb To hear some tell it, by accepting Martha Saunders’ invitation to govern the CoB, new dean Lance Nail has walked into a snake pit-like situation. Though the problems in USM’s business school are both vast and deep, they are not insurmountable. However, Nail’s job would be made a lot easier if a number of CoB faculty who are thought to be in the “retirement window” would sign the necessary PERS acceptance papers and exit stage left.
(September 17, 2008) 31st & Pearl By George The autumn of EFIB chair George Carter’s career is probably not going the way he thought it would several years ago. Sure, he’s back “in the administration game,” but things are so different now from the way things were in the ‘70s and ‘80s that being back in the game is likely little consolation for Carter.
(September 17, 2008) Perks for Buds XV: Same Old George George Carter is still at it. Pontificating rather than teaching? Sure, but not that. Typist, errand boy, and substitute teacher for Ed Nissan? That goes without saying. Is it the new self-bestowed title of “Professor of Regional Economics and Economics Education”? No. It must be George being a negative influence in the College; true, but that is not it this time either. What old George is still doing is running his expert witness consulting shop out of his Chair of EFIB office during normal College business hours.
(September 22, 2008) "Professor of Regional Economics and Economics Education"? The Hits Just Keep on Comin' To the outside world, EFIB chair George Carter is a .professor of regional economics and economics education.. At least that is what Carter told Lauren Moak, the reporter for The Student Printz who interviewed Carter and others for TSP's 18-Sept-08 article, "Economic woes plague country". The portion of Moak's report containing quotes and comments from Carter is inserted below:
