(December 17, 2008 ) Special Report Away Goes Carr An Investigative Report on CoB Faculty Research Credentials
With the close of fall semester 2008 comes the end of CoB associate professor of management Jon Carr’s career at
USM. In Jan-09 Carr will become an assistant professor of management at Texas Christian University. With Carr will
go the research portfolio he has put together since coming to USM several years ago. That portfolio is presented in
Table 1 below:
(February 1, 2009) Winning the Brandt Award — A Boon or a Curse? A number of reports have popped up at
USMNEWS.net of late setting the stage for the CoB's 2009 Louis K. Brandt Research Award. That award, which will
be presented in just a few weeks at the CoB's spring awards banquet, is expected to go to associate professor of
decision sciences Fujun Lai.
(February 24, 2009) CoB News, 24 February 2009 Carr-Opted According to Jana Bryant’s 23-Feb-09 press release the
CoB’s 4th Annual Golden Eagle Challenge Business Plan competition has ended and $5,000 in prize monies were
handed out to the top two teams from the event. This year’s competition marks the first one directed by CoB
assistant professor of management Jennifer Sequeira, and this year’s winners and runners-up represent
Diamondhead, Gautier, Gulfport and Pascagoula.
(March 9, 2009) Ghastly Service Ghosts A LOOK AT FALL 2008 SERVICE DERELICTION IN THE COB Faculty in
the CoB’s management and marketing department (MGT & MKT) have, on occasion, referred to CoB economics
professor Mark Klinedinst as “the ghost.” They do so because Klinedinst has spent much of his tenure in USM’s
CoB out of USM’s CoB. Put simply – he has, over the past 20+ years, rarely been around Greene Hall (JAG). Had he
been a stellar researcher, such behavior could be excused. In Klinedinst’s case, however, there has not been a
publication in an indexed journal article since 1998, an oft-cited statistic in reports and editorials here at
USMNEWS.net.
