(February 7, 2007) GOALIE A THEORY ON JON CARR’S ROLE IN THE AQ/PQ PLAGIARISM EPISODE In recent weeks USMPRIDE.COM has reported extensively on the issue of possible plagiarism (by the CoB's AACSB accreditation team) of various documents available on Central Missouri State University's website. This report takes a brief look at associate professor of management Jon Carr's apparent role during this episode.
(April 3, 2007) Heroes and Storytellers In a recent usmnews.net report, readers were treated to some of Management Professor
Stephen Bushardt’s views on rewards, specifically the Hero/Storyteller Culture. This columnist began thinking about exactly who the Heroes and Storytellers currently are in the CoB and who might be next. Remember that Heroes aren’t really heroes; they are simply the individuals who are the poster children for how the corrupt Bushardtian Establishment wants things done. As a word of note, there is a third category added – Hybrid – that denotes individuals who are used in different situations at different times. What follows is a best guess list for each category.
(June 14, 2007) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . JBRs for the Road Management & Marketing Chairman Barry Babin’s editorial association with the Journal of Business Research has been the subject of a number of reports at usmnews.net. With the arrival of the spring 2007 versions of the CoB’s Sedona vitae, it appears as though that “association” continues to pay off for faculty in the CoB’s Management & Marketing Department.
(June 24, 2007) How Many CoB Faculty Were Terminated in 2006-07? The release of the May 2007 IHL Board Meeting Minutes supports comments from USMNEWS.NET readers indicating that one or more CoB faculty may not have passed the tenure process during the 2006-07 academic year. According the IHL Board, the following USM faculty received tenure at the end of the 2006-07 academic year:
(September 4, 2007) 31st & Pearl CoB's Journal Ranking Process Politicized In last Friday's CoB faculty meeting, interim dean Alvin Williams stated that a new journal ranking was eminent and that the journal ranking committee would begin work at 8 A.M. on Tuesday, September 04, 2007. Should we, observers of the CoB chaos, expect a positive outcome from this newly-discovered dedication to journal ranking? Hardly.
(November 15, 2007) Dear usmnews.net, I have seen that Jon Carr's recent publication in The Academy of Management Journal is prominently displayed now in the Greene Hall publication case. That is an outstanding accomplishment for Jon and for the College. What I would like know, and I am sure something other business faculty want to know, is why such a distinction earned Jon only the sixth biggest merit raise (2007) in the whole College. Not one of the people in front of Jon (Mike Wittmann, Sami Dakhlia, Akbar Marvasti, Alvin Williams and John Clark) deserve anything close to the raise that Jon should have gotten this year. The fact that they all got more than he did is terrible.
