STEVEN BUSHARDT, FORMER PROFESSOR OF
MANAGEMENT, CURRENT CHAIRMAN OF
MANAGEMENT, UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT TYLER
(January 17, 2007) 31st & Pearl He's Baaack!! The re-emergence in the CoB of Stephen Bushardt
(pronounced"Bush-heart") is something to behold. The self-proclaimed wine aficionado, now known to his
new, unsuspecting students as Dr. Stephen Bushardt (pronounced "Boo-shard"), is as active as ever. Why not?
His recent foray into CoB politics was, like days of old, a resounding success.
(January 22, 2007) usmpride.com News . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . DEVELOPING STORY HATTIESBURG --- A first-time
(and unexpected) source dropped by the usmpride.com News offices and let us know that a plan was in the
works to eliminate international economics (ECO 336) from the CoB core curriculum. According to the source,
ECO 336 would be replaced with an option to select any of the CoB’s “international” course offerings (e.g.,
international marketing, international finance, etc.).
(February 19, 2007) Stephen C. Bushardt: The “Manipulator” in his own Words Almost to a person, CoB faculty
are familiar with the “old stories” about management professor Stephen C. Bushardt. In economics professor
Franklin Mixon’s faculty grievance against EFIB Chair George Carter and others (available at
USMPRIDE.COM), there is an account of a conversation Carter had with Mixon wherein Carter refers to
Bushardt, Carter’s good friend, as a “manipulator” of people.
(February 23, 2007) 31st & Pearl Is There a Whole Series from Bushardt? Another day, another major oil spill
in USM’s College of Business. If you’re like us, you’re only now regaining your balance after reading
management professor Stephen Bushardt’s little opus, Managing the Boss. Try not to think about the
following too much, but here goes: that essay likely passed for scholarship, and thus a raise for Bushardt, at
the time. Knowing Bushardt – “Life is good, no?” – like we all do, it’s hard to imagine that this essay is not part
of a whole series of Managing essays from the master “manipulator” himself.
