(August 7, 2008) MADMEN A Look Back at the Marketing Empire that Almost Was by Duane Cobb All of the discussion around USMNEWS.net about "the greatest ever" scholars in each of the CoB's units raised some interesting conclusions. One of these is that the CoB's marketing unit peaked higher than any other unit in CoB history, thanks largely to the leadership of former College of Business Administration dean, Tyrone Black.

(November 15, 2008) CoB Human Resources Update November, 2008 Former CoB MGT & MKT chair, Barry Babin (shown below), is back on the academic research trail. Now the head of Louisiana Tech’s marketing department, Babin recently had a paper accepted by the B-level Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services.

(December 15, 2008) BB's New Life on Interstate-20 A LOOK AT WHAT FACULTY ARE DOING TO ESCAPE THE COB Shortly after the 2006-07 academic year, former CoB marketing professors Barry and Laurie Babin departed for Louisiana, where Barry became the chair of marketing at Louisiana Tech University and Laurie joined the faculty at the University of Louisiana -- Monroe. Thus, the two Babins integrated a daily commute (see mapquest.com map below) into their relationship in order to leave the CoB -- one that would consume about five hours each week driving along Interstate-20.

With his recent (Jan-09) move to LU, Trevino becomes the 10th former CoB faculty to have joined a named business college/school since leaving the CoB in or after 2003.

(April 24, 2008) How Much Lettuce Can You Consume? In and Around USM’s College of Business Mediasite is now hosting some videos showing former CoB marketing chair Barry Babin doing the teaching thing over at Louisiana Tech University. Of most interest may be the beginning of the first video, wherein Babin explains the curriculum vitae concept to the audience. Is it me, or does it sound like Babin has dusted off the ol' Cajun accent for his new teaching gig? It comes and goes, and if you listen closely to the curriculum vitae explanation, it even sounds like Babin could audition for voiceover work on Bravo-TV's The Real Housewives of New Jersey.
