(November 6, 2006) Special Report Doctors Beyond Borders An Investigation into CoB
Faculty Residency Data This report responds to a number of requests from usmpride.com
readers for a look at CoB faculty who maintain home bases outside of the State of
Mississippi. Previous installments in the Special Report series have examined EFIB Chair
George Carter’s provision of teaching schedules that allows various EFIB faculty (e.g., Bill
Gunther) to maintain living arrangements in neighboring states.
(April 29, 2007) Marvin Albin Nobody in the accounting group personifies the sorry nature of the group better than
Marvin Albin. It appears that the last article authored by Albin was the one that Jim Crockett double-counted to give
Albin raises in consecutive periods --- back in the early to mid 1990’s --- which means he cannot possibly attain AQ
status. To make matters worse, Albin reportedly let his CPA license lapse, taking away any hope of earning PQ
status.
(May 24, 2007) Money, Money, Money, Money Consulting and Paid Service in USM’s College of Business This report
examines the consulting and paid service that faculty in the CoB are performing, at least according their own
SEDONA files (as of May 2007). As you will see below, some of the CoB’s least research-active faculty are engaging
in significant amounts of consulting and paid service, all of which enhances their (in some cases bloated) USM
salaries. At the bottom of each consulting/paid service bio below, we provide salary data for 2006-07 along with a
projected salary for 2007-08. Enjoy.
(June 6, 2007) 31st & Pearl Academic Fraud Abounds in the CoB Recent articles regarding the Accounting faculty at
USM have highlighted a decades-old issue: Academic Fraud. In fact, issues related to Academic Fraud have been
one of the key points in usmnews.net's (and, previously, usmpride.com's) investigative reports over the past year.
Sami Dakhlia, Harold Doty, and others may claim that usmnews.net's reports are "lies," "mischaracterizations," or
"misinformation," but such claims only underscore the lack of honesty with which these individuals operate.
