Horribly Bungled Administrative Disasters
"A Horribly Bungled Administrative Disaster" "The reporters and readers of usmnews.net are watching for news concerning Dr. Howard Ross’ litigation against UW-Whitewater and Martha Saunders. The race discrimination suit scheduled to begin trial on February 8, 2010 arose out of Dr. Ross’ demotion...".
(February 10, 2010) Air Farce One Continues to Hound Saunders "USM president Martha Saunders' 2008-09 decision to lease a Beechcraft airplane from the USM Foundation continues to hound her USM presidency. Marika Smith's Feb-10 article for The Student Printz entitled House votes to sell Mississippi's state jet revisits Saunders' ill-advised decision in the context of growing pressure in Mississippi's legislative to sell the state's airplane...".

(February 26, 2009) “a personnel issue” "... These monies [paid to attorneys Adams & Reese) (i.e., about $156,000) represent about 2% of the budget difficulties that USM has suffered during the current 2008-09 academic year (the 2009 fiscal year). Thus, one would think that the Saunders administration could save loads of money simply by following its own dictum, and one that was stated early on by Saunders administration (i.e., in 2007). What is that dictum? Simply this - USM should treat its people better...".
(April 1, 2009) Dear usmnews, "Like your last reader did with the first analysis of USM President Martha Saunders’ plane, I pulled your last reader's analysisand ran with it. Really, all I had to do was add the final March 31st return to Hattiesburg from Manassas to complete that reader’s analysis of the plane’s use during February and March of this year. That table appears again here. Note that the cost overrun falls from $60,941 to $60,711 when the last flight from Manassas to Hattiesburg is added. That reduces also the % cost overrun from 2,959.7% to 2,652.3%, which is also not as bad (he he he he)...".
(January 14, 2008) Saunders-Amodeo Relationship Should be Examined "After reading the drivel that Mona Amodeo's consulting firm produced in response to USM's recent "Core Dialogues," it's clear that the University got hosed by its contractual relationship with Amodeo. For a report which barely presents any coherent thoughts, and includes some classic, oxymoronic management-speak, such as the oft-referenced "collective individualism," Mississippi's taxpayers had to part with $40,000 of hard-earned cash...".
(October 31, 2007) Blogged Down "...The choice Saunders failed to make on 28-Oct-07 entailed spending the day in her office, figuring out how to move USM out of Tier IV and back into Tier III. That would have been a glorious day well spent. ...". (Editor's Note: according to the most recent US News & World Report rankings, USM remains a Tier IV institution)
(March 24, 2008) Saunders’ “Boudoir Makeover” Expenses Continue to Mount "The recent news item, broken by USMNEWS.NET reporters, entitled “Where All of ‘the Magic’ Happens” describes the $324,622.63 renovation to the “bedroom wing” of the USM President’s mansion in Hattiesburg...".
